What Does it Truly Mean to be Self-Aware?

As humans, we love to label things. We feel comfort when things are placed in categories, in groups, in ways that we can understand. When it comes to being ‘self-aware’, there are guidelines in place that often determine whether we are or we aren’t. While I recognize that many people hold onto these categories to make sense of their world, I’m here to remind you and let you know that you truly don’t need to subscribe to them. You don’t need to put yourself in any box. You can be self-aware without placing yourself in a stereotypical category.

Many people put pressure on themselves to be the most awake version of themselves, thinking they must do x, y and z for it to be so. If they are going to be self-aware, then they must meditate a certain way, say things a certain way, and only associate with groups that are also doing things this way. While I’m all for practices that help you feel connected and balanced, like meditation and journaling, and a supportive community of like-minded others, you also don’t need to keep yourself small and place limitations on your life to create this self-awareness. Do you see the irony?

You’re kind of missing the point when this is how you go about it - thinking you need to fit in when really you need to just be you. Being self-aware is about living your most authentic genuine life, even if that moves you right outside of any category or box. It’s about being aware of what you love to do. Maybe that’s sitting in a field watching the dandelions blow in the breeze. Maybe it’s singing loudly in your kitchen or dancing with your full body and soul.

Self-awareness is not blindly subscribing to spiritual practices because you think that’s what you should be doing.

It’s finding what brings light into your life, what makes you smile, what fills your heart and then doing more of that. It’s being aware of what you love. It’s noticing what feelings these things evoke. That, that right there is self-awareness.

Take a moment and think of your own idea of self-awareness. Have you placed yourself too far into one category or are you allowing yourself to be your most free, eccentric self? Because there is absolute beauty in letting yourself be exactly who you are – as messy and quirky and weird as that may be. Embrace it!

It’s time to let yourself be so happy in your own energy, without the labels, without the need to follow the spiritual mainstream. Living your passions will always lead you where you need to go.

If you want to further explore what your passions may be and create an aligned life around them, book a reading or session with me for tailored guidance to help you in your journey.

Love, Light & Angelic Blessings,

Are You Living the Life You Truly Desire?

Let me ask you a loaded question: Are you living a life you truly desire?

Or are you following a path based on other people’s expectations – a life you think you should lead? It’s a lot to consider. Or maybe it’s quite simple and you know exactly the life you want to be leading, but aren’t. Either way, I was guided to dive into this topic because I see it coming up a lot for my clients and others in my orbit.

The world has a lot to say when it comes to our lives. From a young age, many of us are steered in certain directions, based on pressures from our parents, family members, society, our friend groups. It can feel like a lot, that kind of pressure. It can be so ingrained in us from ancestral patterns and cultural expectations. Often, parents project their own dreams onto their offspring as a way to live through their experience – as misguided as that is, it’s a pattern that is very common.

All of the above can feel hard, especially if you have an internal nudge, prodding from deep within you, telling you you are meant for something else, something very different. You either push it down and try to ignore it (to the point that you finally have to listen) or you follow it but without a roadmap of what the path ahead even looks like. Both can leave you feeling a little lost.

Which is why I’m here to remind you:

The life you truly desire is not always an easy route, but let me tell you, it is so very worth it for the feeling of deep fulfillment and joy it offers.

I’m writing this today to stress this point: It’s time to be the leader you were meant to be and not the follower that leaves you feeling lost and empty. Pursue your dreams. Go after them, anyway, despite all the reasons the world tries to stop you. Because even if you go off the beaten path and end up falling right on your face, those mistakes, those hurdles, those challenges that arise are there for your greatest good, to help you grow and evolve as a spiritual being. Bumps and bruises along the way are all part of it and nothing to fear. This kind of journey is worth every challenge because you have what it takes to surpass them.

If you haven’t taken the time to sit with all of this, to uncover what it is that truly lights you up and ignites that passion deep within you – this is your sign to do just that. Too many people blindly stumble along a life that someone else chose for them, wondering why things feel misaligned, wondering why they can’t seem to get a true grip on happiness. It truly doesn’t matter what you do with your life, as long as you actively choose a path that brings you peace and fulfillment. No one else gets a say in what makes YOU happy. Take your power back and your freedom and say YES to what was truly meant for you!

If you need guidance in uncovering what it is you do LOVE for your life, book a reading or session with me and we’ll bring forth clarity around these important questions.

Love, light and angelic blessings,

Annmarie
